MANILA – House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez twitted Magdalo Representative Gary Alejano, who believes his ouster bid against President Rodrigo Duterte via impeachment got a boost because of the feud between Alvarez and Floirendo, Duterte’s prime allies.
Alejano told the media Thursday that Alvarez’s leadership had been affected by this feud and the leadership he exercised in the vote on the death peanlty bill, and it has left the ruling party divided, making it easier for Alejano to secure votes for his impeachment case against Duterte.
Alejano would need only 1/3 of congressmen to back him up for trial to proceed at the Senate.
Alvarez, however, said, “Mas mabuti sa kaniya yun, kung totoo yung iniisip niya, ‘di ba?”
Alvarez was also not concerned this might affect his standing among congressmen.
“Ay sus maryosep, anything is possible under the sun. Para sa akin naman, ok lang. I’m just enjoying the ride. No problem,” he said.
Alvarez laughed off claims that the coalition is now divided.
“Alam mo, pag makitid ang pag-iisip natin, ganun; pero ‘wag nating tingnan ito na away. Hindi ito away,” he said.
“Kinwestyon ko in behalf of the government, kinwestyon ko yung isang maanomalyang kontrata na pinasok ng kumpaniya ni Cong. Floirendo at ng gobyerno noong 2004 kung saan ito nirenew,” he added.
“Tinatanong ko dito kung yung BuCor (Bureau of Corrections) ba may authroity to enter into a JVA (joint venture agreement) with TADECO (Tagum Agricultural Development Company) kasi wala akong makitang batas na nag-authorize ng BUCOR to enter into JVA with agreement. Pagka-alam ko, pwede na mag-JVA with private corporation ay GOCC, ‘di po yung national issue.”
Alvarez added, “malayo ho, masyado yan. Hindi ho aligned ang pag-iisip. Masyado malayo. Wala ho kinalaman. Masyado malayo impeachment.”
